Hey everyone, it took me three different times to film this video and months/years lol to prepare my thoughts on it. Keep in mind that I am only scratching the surface on my thoughts because I wanted to make this video a manageable amount of time. I’m sure there are times where I don’t completely finish a thought or share all the details that go into a thought process so feel free to ask in the comments below if you have any follow-up questions. ▪️Here is the list that I read of how to help identify a cult:
RECOGNIZE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF CULTS
1. Isolating members and penalizing them for leaving
2. Seeking inappropriate loyalty to their leaders
3. Dishonoring the family unit
4. Absolute authoritarianism without meaningful accountability.
5. No tolerance for questions or critical inquiry.
6. No meaningful financial disclosure regarding budget, expenses such as an independently audited financial statement.
7. Unreasonable fear about the outside world, such as impending catastrophe, evil conspiracies, and persecutions.
8. There is no legitimate reason to leave, former followers are always wrong in leaving, negative or even evil.
9. Followers feel they can never be « good enough ».
10. The group/leader is always right.
11. The group/leader is the exclusive means of knowing « truth » or receiving validation, no other process of discovery is really acceptable or credible.

I forgot to bring this up in the video, but a study on the life of Dietrich Bon Hoffer, who was a German Christian, will give you a lot of insight into being a Christian at the time of Hitler’s rule in Germany. He had to actively stand against Hitler while most Christians went with Hitler’s agenda. There is a movie coming out about his life story on November 22 in the US.

▪️Lastly, I mentioned that Christians feel strongly about abortion and the LGBTQ plus community. To be clear, not all Christians have the same stance on these beliefs, but it is the main two things I have heard from Christians in my personal life and online that make them feel they need to vote for Trump. I just want to say that I personally have a pretty nuanced view on both of those topics. I didn’t want to talk about the nuances of what I believe personally, but I wanted to address a specific group that is choosing to vote for Trump because of these two topics. I hope that makes sense.
